As most of you probably don’t know, I (Lauren, hello, it was me that you were looking for) work for the University of Toronto Press, in the Journals Division. Normally this isn’t all that relevant to what I do at Dragnet, but I learned something cool this week, and I wanted to share it with y’all. We publish a journal, called the Journal of Religion and Popular Culture and the entire thing is online, FOR FREE. Now, this normally wouldn’t be all that interesting to anyone who wasn’t neck-deep in academia, but this journal is awesome. Some article titles to demonstrate: Becoming Data: Star Trek Wisdom and the Unforeseen Effects of Fieldwork on the Fieldworker, Hidden in Music: Religious Experience and Pop Festivals, and The Horror, The Horror: What Kind of (Horror) Movie is the Apocalypse, to name just a few. So, enjoy! And don’t say I never did anything for you.
